What to Expect
Welcome to Bikram's in La Jolla! I hope your first experience was enjoyable. I know it was challenging.
The heat can be challenging your first several classes......be patient. After a couple classes, you will get used to the heat and begin to realize its value. Bikram Yoga benefits the mind and body in countless ways. Being consistent in practice is what matters most. While it may seem a little overwhelming, having just finished your first class, please come back soon. Tomorrow is best. With practice, your body adjusts quickly to the heat.

After your first day........................
- You can expect to feel marvelous, look better and begin to understand what it means to be a true god or goddess.
- You can expect to have healthier looking skin, shiny hair and healthy digestion.
- You can expect a detoxifying, healthy sweat, good for your mind and body.
- You can expect to feel a little lightheaded, dizzy and/or nauseous. These healthy sensations, experienced during class, are ways your body communicates with you. Yoga will teach you self awareness through sensation.
- You can expect to feel soreness in places you were unaware you had. Some aches and pains will go away, only to be replaced with new ones. As your joints discover added flexibility discomfort may arise. Be open to the feeling of discomfort, as through these sensations your body and mind learn what is "right" and what is "wrong". Flexibility is gained and maintained through consistent effort, determination and concentration.
- You can expect to learn more about who you are.
- You can expect to gain balance; in your mind, body and life.
- You can expect renewed and gained strength in the aspects of your mind: concentration, determination, discipline, faith, patience and self-control.
- You can expect to breathe better, feel more relaxed and learn more about who you are.
- You can expect your practice to provide a helpful, needed boost during life's most challenging times.
- You can expect to respond better when life treats you unfair.
- You can expect to consider Bikram Yoga as a healthy addiction.
Whether it is your first or hundredth class, come to Bikram yoga with no expectations. Do the best you can. Discover the power of your breath. Discover the power of meditation as so many have for thousands and thousands of years.
